Professional athletes sometimes find it difficult to make the transition from their playing career to the business world. Greg Larson and John Redebaugh are exceptions. Both are former National Football League players who now reside in the Brainerd area. They prepared for life after football.

30 years ago (1971)

Employment in Brainerd during October was down 51 from September figures. This is the third month in a row to show a drop. The total employment for October this year is down 80 from a year ago.

40 years ago (1961)

The purchasing power, which is estimated at more than $13,000,000 yearly, comes into Crow Wing, Aitkin and Cass County every summer from its tourist trade. Crow Wing County receives about $5.5 million of the tourist spending.

60 years ago (1941)

Today the sun broke through clouds to shine upon Brainerd for the first time in 10 days. The mercury, which has remained in the 20s rose to 39.

80 years ago (1921)

A Lions Club whose purposes are similar to the Rotarians, may soon be organized in Brainerd. A meeting is to be held Thursday to see if an organization shall be effected.

100 years ago (1901)
