College football

South Dakota State (7-2, 6-1 Missouri Valley) at Minnesota (5-5, 3-4 Big Ten), 11 a.m. Central

Series Record: Minnesota leads 5-0.

Last Meeting: 1933, Minnesota 19-6.

What's at Stake

The Jackrabbits, 12th in the latest Football Championship Subdivision rankings, hope to pull off what fellow Missouri Valley Conference member North Dakota State did in 2007, when the Bison beat the Gophers 27-21. This is South Dakota State's second game against a Football Bowl Subdivision foe since moving up from Division II in 2004. The Jackrabbits lost at Iowa State 44-17 in 2008. The Gophers are stinging from a loss at home to Illinois and must win this game, their last at home this year, to ensure bowl game eligibility. They can also regain some momentum for the regular season finale at Iowa.

Key Matchup

South Dakota State RB Kyle Minett vs. Minnesota LB Nate Triplett. Minett, a native of Ruthton, Minn., has five 100-yard games this year. Triplett, who also grew up in the west-central part of Minnesota in the town of Delano, plays his final home game.

Players to Watch

South Dakota State: LB Derek Domino. The junior from Spring Lake Park, Minn., is the team's leading tackler. He's also tied for the team lead with four interceptions.

Minnesota: Tight end Nick Tow-Arnett. The senior has emerged as a reliable target for quarterback Adam Weber with the loss of standout wide receiver Eric Decker.
