Why is Oak Lawn Township even considering laying off their maintenance employee? We're told it's to save money. The only way this is going to save money will be by reducing maintenance standards and road upkeep/improvements. The residents of this township have learned what a good gravel road is like and will not settle for less. The supervisors who are in favor of this all live on tar roads. Are the supervisors going to take care of it when a tree blows onto the road? Come to the next town meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. to learn more.
I think that every school district employee should get the same percentage of a pay increase. If that number is zero for the cooks, custodians and teaching assistants then it should be zero for the teachers and administrators. I don't take my kids to the fair and give my daughter $20 and tell my son I'm sorry but I only had $20. That is unfair treatment and I think it needs to stop immediately.
I see Gov. Pawlenty's deer hunting is much like his governorship. He leaves hunting for political reasons with a wounded deer and he leaves Minnesotans wounded for political reasons. He takes an ill-advised shot at a deer and many of his ideas, proposals are ill-advised. He starts something and allows others to clean up after him.
Did they forget the veterans?
I am very disappointed in the city of Brainerd. Today is Veterans Day. I thought it was the day to thank our veterans for the freedom they give us. Well, the city of Brainerd didn't even fly the flags on the streets today, shame on them. They fly them on every other holiday. What's wrong with Veterans Day? Have they forgotten the veterans?
