20 years ago (1989)

Members of the American Legion, the VFW and the VFW Auxiliary observed Veterans Day at the All Veterans Memorial near the court house with a 21-gun salute. It was the first time the newly completed memorial was the focal point of the ceremony.

30 years ago (1979)

(Photo) Minnesota poet John Caddy talked to a third grade class of would-be poets at Lincoln Elementary School. He is the first of three poets who will visit local schools in coming months.

40 years ago (1969)

(Photo) Coaches Keith Dyre and Vern Moore join this foursome, which figures to play a big part in Warrior wrestling fortunes this year. They are juniors Ken Herman and Dave Horn, and seniors Steve Borders and Craig Magnan.

60 years ago (1949)

80 years ago (1929)

For stealing one red hog, a Pequot man, who admitted his guilt, heard the court pronounce a sentence of 1-to-5 years in St. Cloud reformatory. A second man, who also pleaded guilty, faces sentencing on the same charge of hog theft.

100 years ago (1909)

The trial of four men for assault upon Arthur Stinehagen was concluded today with charges against two being dropped for complete lack of evidence. The other two were fined $75 each for what the judge called cowardly and brutal action.
