ST. CLOUD (AP) -- A Big Lake woman has been sentenced to two months in jail for leaving children in her daycare alone while she went to work.
Mayuli Bales, 37, pleaded guilty to three counts of gross misdemeanor child neglect for leaving two 2-year-olds alone while she interpreted for an English as a Second Language class.
Bales has to perform 300 hours of community service and pay back money paid by parents for day care while she worked her interpreter job.
Bales was sentenced last week by Sherburne County District Court Judge Karla Hancock, who scolded Bales and immediately ordered her taken to jail to serve her sentence.
