Nisswa's city of lights festivities are planned to welcome the holiday season beginning with events beginning at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 28 and ending with a fireworks display at 7:30 p.m.
Activities include hay wagon rides, storytelling, food merchants, bonfires, carolers, crafts, holiday band and of course, the arrival of Santa Claus. The historic Pioneer Village will be open by candlelight. And there will be the countdown to the holiday lighting of the entire city of Nisswa.
A special Love Lights a Tree celebration takes place outside the Nisswa Chamber building at the Tree of Life. An evergreen is lit with white lights, each light has been donated in memory or honor of a loved person in one's life. To recognize someone special, call the Nisswa Chamber 963-2620 or stop in at the chamber. Donations of $5 per light will benefit Good Samaritan Society Hospice. All names will be read aloud at 5:35 p.m. Nov. 28.
The chamber also has an Adopt A Tree program with selected trees in Nisswa that can be decorated. Volunteers for the event are still needed in many areas and would be greatly appreciated, the chamber reported. For more information, contact the chamber at 963-2620.
