The Brainerd High School orchestras will present a benefit concert 7 p.m. Tuesday at Tornstrom Auditorium, Washington Middle School, in Brainerd.
All money donated at the door will go to the Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen.
The Brainerd High School Sinfonia Orchestra
Two Brainerd orchestras will perform works from America, England and Italy, representing more than 300 years of composition.
The 60-member Sinfonia Orchestra will open the concert with the "Fanfare for Strings" by Doris Gazda, followed Elliot Del Borgo's "Arlington Sketches." Next, Sinfonia will perform "Concerto in E Minor" by English Composer Charles Avison, followed by "End Pin Rag" by Richard Meyer and "Dramatic Essay" by Mark Williams.
The 40-member Chamber Orchestra will perform "Sinfonia in D" by Italian composer Tomaso Albinoni, followed by "Neo-Romantic Serenade" by Edward Elgar. Five Minnesota All-State Orchestra members will perform Antonio Vivaldi's "Concerto for 4 Violins and Cello." The concert will conclude with the "Gig from the Saint Paul's Suite" by Gustav Holst.
