Hunter dies near Pillager

A 56 year-old Wyoming, Minn., man, who had shot a deer and was dragging it out the woods, collapsed and died Monday morning near Pillager, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Department.

The sheriff's department was called at 9:29 a.m. Monday to the scene near Pillager Lake.

An autopsy will be performed by the Ramsey County medical examiner's office.

The man's name was not released pending notification of family.

No additional information was available.

In the Staples area, the Todd County sheriff's office assisted at the scene when a man fell out of his deer stand on Monday. The man was found to have injuries to his head, left arm and shoulder. The Staples Police Department reported the man was transported by ambulance to the hospital. No further information was available.
