Arthur E. Koland

Arthur E. Koland, 79, Brainerd, passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at the Greater Staples Care Center.

He was born on Sept. 7, 1924, in Sandstone to Ole and Tomine (Jensdater). He married Nancy Reed in Grantsburg, Wis. He worked for the MN Power and Light Company until 1973 when he retired and went into hobby farming.

Survivors include his wife, of Brainerd; his sons, James (Sylvia) of Brainerd, Robert (Maria) of Motley, and Dennis (Kathy) of Brooklyn Park; his daughters, Norma "Kitty" (Bob) Peterson of Brainerd, Linda Louise (Mark) Wilson of Lake Shore, and Ton (Tim) O'Bannon of Maple Plain, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Norman of Robbinsdale.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Services will be Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at 1 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Pillager. Interment will be at Wildwood Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd and an hour prior to the services at the church.
