The Heartland Symphony Orchestra has planned a Christmas concert titled "Oh Joyous Song," which will feature several holiday classics.
The concert will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Franklin Junior High School, Brainerd, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, in Charles Martin Auditorium, Little Falls High School.
The orchestra will be joined by the St. John's Boys' Choir.
The Heartland Symphony Orchestra Christmas concert has become an annual holiday tradition for this central Minnesota region. This year's concert will include such titles as Bach's "Air on the G String," "Punwar's "Tintinabulations," Fiocco's "Allegro," and the festive number "'Tis the Season of Bells ... and Flutes ... and Strings ... and Brass ... and ..." as well as David Ott's "Festive Christmas Overture."
The evening will conclude with the annual audience sing-along of old-time holiday favorites.
Heartland Symphony Orchestra conductor Richard Haglund has chosen numbers that pay tribute not only to the season, but to the renowned guests, the St. John's Boys' Choir.
Season tickets are still available, which would include the Christmas and spring concerts, or individual concert tickets may also be purchased.
Tickets for "Oh Joyous Song" can be purchased in advance at The Brainerd Dispatch and Bridge of Harmony in Brainerd or at the Great River Arts Association and Bookin' It Bookstore in Little Falls. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
