WALKER - Incumbent Sheriff Randy Fisher was running about a 2-to-1 margin ahead of challenger Deputy Garr Pemberton late Tuesday night when Cass County reported 60 percent of the 72 precincts unofficially counted.
At that point, Fisher tallied 4,583 votes to Pemberton's 1,738. Districts missing from the count included the far north and south ends of the 120-mile long county.
Fisher was expected to have a stronger showing in the south end, while Pemberton was expected to gather his strongest support in northern Cass. The margin had been running consistently through the central Cass counts.
