William Vadnais, 85, Brainerd, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at Woodland Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd.
He was born July 3, 1917, to Joseph and Eva (Nissen) Vadnais. He served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific and during the Korean War with the 194th Tank Battalion. He was a member of the Army Reserves. He was a volunteer firefighter for 27 years, a member of the Elks, American Legion, VFW 40 and 8, Last Man's Club, RAF, Color Guard and Legionville. He was a parade coordinator.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; two daughters, Sharon Teigen and Barbara Whitted; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ronald Vadnais.
A son, Frank Vadnais; two sisters, Margaret Friedrich and Katherine Hell; and a brother, Gordon Vadnais, died earlier.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd with Father Bill Skarich officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post No. 255. Memorials are preferred to Legionville.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and an hour before services Monday at the church.
