LONGVILLE -- Nearly 20 Kinship volunteers, Kinship kids and their families turned out on a brisk fall day for the Kinship Connection Hayride on Oct. 28 at Camp Olson near Longville.
This group event included a hayride behind a horse-drawn wagon followed by hot chocolate and cookies in the dining hall. A fire crackling in the enormous rock fireplace warmed the group, as well as a few lively games of Ping-Pong. Several kids also tickled the ivories on the old piano in the hall.
Kinship Connections is a 2 1/2-year-old adult-child mentoring program in Longville. There are currently seven matches in the program with an eighth in progress. Many other children are waiting for a match.
Anyone who is willing to spend a couple of hours each week with a child from the Longville-Remer area is encouraged to contact Kinship Connection coordinator Gen Erickson at 363-3348 or 800-478-6126.
