Roast beef dinner
The Brainerd American Legion will offer a roast beef dinner, hosted by Norm Nelson, from 5:30 p.m. until gone Thursday. Cost is $8.

BAXTER - The Baxter Lions Club will meet Monday at Camp Vanasek. The board meeting is at 6 p.m. Dinner is at 6:30 p.m. and the regular meeting is at 7 p.m.
Arts and crafts festival
The holiday arts and crafts festival will be 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Brainerd High School, 702 South Fifth St., Brainerd. Use north or south entrance. There will be more than 150 exhibitors.

Brainerd Service League will meet Tuesday at the home of Ruth Quisberg. Servers are Diane Stevens, Linda Severson and Deb Thuringer. Social hour will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a luncheon and meeting to follow. Members can bring an item for the white elephant silent auction.
VFW events
VFW Post No. 1647 and Auxiliary meetings will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the VFW Clubrooms. These meetings will update members about veterans affairs and coming events.
VFW Men's Auxiliary will meet at the VFW Clubrooms Thursday at 7 p.m. members are urged to attend to discuss coming events.
The VFW Auxiliary Friday night fish fry will be served from 5:30-7 p.m. or until gone. Cost: $8.

Brainerd Lakes Area Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa
The Brainerd Lakes Area Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa celebrated "Passionately Pink for the Cure" during their October meeting. One hundred dollars was contributed to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Senior dances
Senior dances will be from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday at Motley with music by Country Pride; and from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday at Waukenabo with music by the Hornets.
South Long Lake Sewing Club
The South Long Lake Sewing Club began donating their projects to the Shriners Children's Hospital in 2007. Since then, they have created and given more than 400 lap robes and quilts, 125 pillows, 100 wheelchair bags and 300 stuff animals.
The club meets the last Wednesday of each month, with the exception of July and August, at Bethel Lutheran Church on South Long Lake. Dues are only $1 per person per meeting. That money is used to purchase supplies.
The Dorcas Society supplies a lot of materials as they are donations to them. What the sewing club doesn't use gets donated as well so there is no waste.
When a child is transported to the hospital by a Shriner, the lap robes, quilts, pillows, etc., are sent with them.
WHS class of 1937
The Washington High School class of 1937 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Northwind Grille.

The National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Brainerd Public Library meeting room. Lunch to follow. Yearly dues may be sent to Avis Lee at P.O. Box 86, Pillager, MN 56473. Election of officers will be held.
WHS class of 1946

Bee-Nay-She Council Bird Club
The Bee-Nay-She Council Bird Club will meet 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Northland Arboretum, 14250 Conservation Drive, Brainerd.
Bird identification series will be given by Warren Nelson. Ron Windingstad of Audubon Minnesota will present the program "Chimney Swift Conservation Project."
Play 500
For those interested in playing 500, come to the Cole Memorial Building, one block northwest of Highway 371 stoplight in Pequot Lakes, from 1-3:30 p.m. Sundays and Wednesdays.
Holiday open house
Do holiday shopping all at once at a holiday open house with multiple home-based businesses featured from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Country Inn and Suites in Baxter. There will be door prizes. Bring a non-perishable food item for the local food shelf.
Craft and bake sale
There will be a craft and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center, Brainerd. There will be a white elephant sale room and home baked items for sale. Lunch and donuts also available for purchase. The center is located at 803 Kingwood St., Brainerd.
