CROSBY -- The Crosby-Ironton Junior High School bands, directed by Bruce Femling, will present Golden Oldies Night at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14 in the school's Woock Gym.
The seventh-grade band's selections will include "Let's Rock"; "Linus & Lucy" (1965) from "Charlie Brown" movies; "What a Wonderful World" from 1967; and a Big Band piece, "Mack The Knife," from 1955.
Emcee/DJ Scott Kile of 101.5 FM will introduce the eighth-grade band playing a version of "Johnny B. Goode" (1958), written by Chuck Berry. The band also will play "Time in a Bottle" written in 1971 by Jim Croce, featuring clarinets; and "Born to be Wild" from 1968.
The ninth-grade band will go back to 1957-1963 as it plays a medley -- "Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame," which features "Jailhouse Rock," "Twist & Shout," "Stand By Me" and "Wipe Out." This band also will play the Beach Boys' "Surfin' USA" from 1963.
The ninth-grade band's saxophone section will play "Yakety Sax" by Boots Randolph.
Other selections the various bands will perform include "Over the Rainbow"; "YMCA;" the "Mickey Mouse March"; music from "Grease," including "We Go Together" and "Greased Lightnin'"; "Somewhere Out There"; "Shout"; "Banana Split"; "Cruisin'''; "Love Potion #9"; "Mr. Blue"; and "Pretty Woman."
