MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Unsure whether their team will even exist next season, a few Minnesota Twins got some good news on Tuesday.
Center fielder Torii Hunter and first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz won Gold Gloves -- given annually to the best fielder at each position.
"I'll take it," Hunter said Tuesday from his home in Texas. "That's a special thing. I came up through the minor leagues wanting to get a Gold Glove. Now I can dream about trying to win another one."
Both had their best seasons in 2001. Hunter, 26, batted .261 with 27 homers and 92 RBIs. Mientkiewicz, 27, batted .306 with 15 home runs and 74 RBIs.
