ONAMIA -- Abner C. Shivers, 92, Onamia, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at Onamia Nursing Home in Onamia.
He was born Aug. 18, 1909, in Irwinville, Ga., to Henry B. and Sallie E. (Bass) Shivers. He married Violet Haggard on Jan. 30, 1927, in Plaatka, Fla. He worked for many years at the World Tool Co., in Minneapolis.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ralph Shivers, Onamia, Dan Shivers, Arizona, and Ray Shivers, Minneapolis; four daughters, Helen McCartney, Florida, Ray Linden, Blaine, Lucille Tarasar, Rogers, and Della Streeter, Tennessee; 34 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
A son, Phil Shivers, died earlier.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Alliance Church of Onamia with the Rev. Donald E. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Foster Cemetery in Cove.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Shelley Funeral Chapel in Onamia, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., and from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the church.
