The Brainerd Family YMCA will host a school dance for students in the eighth and ninth grades from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday.
Music will be provided by Music General. Cost is $5 per student.

to meet Thursday
The Region 5 Board of Directors will meet at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Region 5 office in Staples.
The public is invited to attend.
Pequot facility to offer assisted living services
PEQUOT LAKES -- Pequot Lakes Housing Authority is pairing with Bethany Good Samaritan Village to provide assisted living services at Sibley Terrace in Pequot Lakes.
An open house to meet the staff and receive information about services will run 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at Sibley Terrace, 31203 North Oak St. in Pequot Lakes.
Eagles Club donates money for children in Afghanistan
The Brainerd Eagles Club donated $7,350 to the America's Fund for Afghanistan Children on behalf of the students of the Brainerd School District. The club donated $1 per student for the fund spearheaded by President Bush.
Mike Zauhar and Scott Moen, co-presidents of the Brainerd High School Student Council, accepted the donation from the Eagles Club on Monday.
In addition, the elementary and secondary students have raised close to $10,000 for the American Red Cross for relief efforts.
Student field trip to Shoreview offered
There is no school Nov. 26 and students in third through ninth grades are invited to take a field trip to Shoreview that day, an event sponsored by Brainerd Community Education and the Brainerd Family YMCA.
Participants will swim at Tropics Indoor Waterpark, bowl at Mermaid Lanes, as well as have a pizza party. The luxury coach bus is equipped with movie screens and a bathroom.
