20 years ago (1981)

At 12:00 noon Wednesday, after 10 years of silence, Brainerd's carillon bells will ring out in concert once more. And, in a fitting stroke of irony, the man who will play them is the same one whose carillon bell music delighted Brainerd residents for 15 years, the Rev. Canon Edward G. Barrow.

30 years ago (1971)

The Curriculum committee of the Brainerd School Board has taken under study the possible establishment of late bus routes to four general areas in addition to Nisswa.

40 years ago (1961)

Brainerd bowlers George Melin and Irene Smedley moved into the Honor Class Monday night at Laguyal Lanes with gilt-edged 731 and 608 series respectively in their league competition.

60 years ago (1941)

Prospective cagers turned out en masse last night as 65 candidates for berths on the Warrior basketball team answered first call of Coach Don Adamson.

80 years ago (1921)

A teacher was reading to her class, when she came across the word "unaware." She asked if anyone knew the meaning.

One little girl timidly raised her hand and gave the following definition.

"Unaware is what you put on first and take off last."

100 years ago (1901)

Fosston is in need of a dumping ground. The old one caught fire last week and nearly burned the creamery. Queer place for a dumping ground anyway.
