William A. Wroolie Sr., 73, Brainerd, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at VA Medical Center of Minneapolis.
He was born June 8, 1927, in Minneapolis to Clarence and Theresa (Hein) Wroolie. He married Alice Lucille Jensen. He served in the Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kwajalien in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He retired from Camp Ripley in 1989. He was a life member of Randall VFW Post and DAV Chapter No. 22 in Brainerd.
Survivors include his wife; six sons, William Wroolie Jr., Clarence Wroolie, Kevin Wroolie and Kellie Wroolie, all of Brainerd, Brad Wroolie, Coronado, Calif., and Dennis Wroolie, Konawa, Okla.; two daughters, Linda Paige and Pamela Japp, both of Brainerd; 21 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dudley LaPlante, Minneapolis.
His parents; a son, Dale; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church of Brainerd with Pastor David P. Holte officiating. Burial will be in Fort Ripley Cemetery with military rites conducted by VFW Post No. 1647 Brainerd.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home of Brainerd and an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
