20 years ago (1980)

Mrs. Clyde Gorham who founded the Brainerd Unit of the Shriners Auxiliary in the 1950s was honored last week at a party held at the Masonic Hall. She has remained active in the group during the last 30 years.

30 years ago (1970)

In Crow Wing County, the Democratic trend was clear. Not only did Humphrey and Wendell Anderson carry the county but John Zwach faced trouble. The DFL surge also was evident in the state senatorial race which saw young Winston Borden unseat veteran Senator Gordon Rosenmeier.

40 years ago (1960)

George Dandanell became a member of the DeMolay Honorary Legion of honor at a public investiture held here Saturday night. Roger A. Greenwalt and Lyle Steffenson both were invested with the Degree of Chevalier. All three are members of Brainerd Lodge.

60 years ago (1940)

Brainerd sons seeking high office broke even yesterday as C. Elmer Anderson, the nation's youngest Lieutenant Governor, defeated two opponents to win the second term while Ed Tom O'Brien lost to Congressman Harold Knutson.

80 years ago (1920)

100 years ago (1900)

Remember that in voting for McKinley you must put an X mark after the name of every Republican elector, nine in all. An X mark placed after the name of the first does not count for all. Don't forget this important fact.
