Fishing report

Outdoor News

LAKEMILLE LACS

It's been slow. Even the evening crankbait action has been minimal for walleyes. There are quite a few muskie anglers around, but they don't seem to be real active this week, either. The perch being caught in the bays have been small with an occasional "keeper" mixed in.

LEECH LAKE AREA

The evening and night bite remains the best bet for walleyes. Troll crankbaits near Pine Point or on the West Goose Flats in 10 to 14 feet. A jig and minnow is turning a few big walleyes on the 25- to 35- foot humps in Walker Bay. Trolling large crankbaits has produced muskies in Walker Bay.

BRAINERD/NISSWA AREA

A jig and minnow remains the best walleye option on Gull Lake and North Long Lake in 20 to 35 feet. A few fish have been taken during the evening hours in shallower water. Look for bass and northern pike to be hitting minnows or crankbaits along the remaining weed edges of most lakes.

CROSBY AREA

The south end of Pelican Lake and Rabbit Lake are kicking out walleyes in 22 to 24 feet or 36 to 40 feet during the afternoon and evening. Pike are hitting spinnerbaits and small spoons on East Rabbit Lake in six to 12 feet.

CROSS LAKE AREA

Walleyes are being caught on redtails or shiner minnows in 18 to 30 feet on area lakes. Work the steep breaks or moving water areas. A few pike have been taken on large crankbaits in 25 to 40 feet and panfish are now suspended over 18 to 22 feet.

EMILY AREA

Trolling spoons on Goodrich Lake has provided steady northern pike action. Throw plastics in the bay on Ruth Lake for numbers of bass and walleye action is slow.

HACKENSACK AREA

Trolling Rapalas at night in 10 feet or less has produced walleyes on Ten Mile Lake.
