Lakes Area Habitat for Humanity recently hosted its 12th annual dinner and auction at the Breezy Point Convention Center. The event included both a silent and live auction.
LAHFH Executive Director Kevin Pelkey is grateful for the turnout and show of support. "The evening - along with being a lot of fun - also underscores the importance of what we do as an organization. The ability to see a tangible show of support, not only financially, but in the number of supporters who attended, was very humbling."
As planning moves forward for the 2010 event, it will do so without longtime dinner committee chair, Sandy Reuther. She is retiring from her post after 12 years. Mary Hardwick, who organized the auction for the past 12 years, also will be retiring. The dinner/auction committee will now be chaired by Sally Jacobson.
Lakes Area Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that serves Cass, Crow Wing and Hubbard counties. Since 1991, LAHFH has worked with 67 families. For more information, visit lakesareahabitat.org or call 828-8517.
