How many times have you read this column and thought, "That child sounds like a great kid; I should call Kinship Partners and ask to be his/her partner"? Then your busy schedule takes over and the call to Kinship is never made.
Don't despair - Kinship always has children on the waiting list wanting a special adult to come into their life.
One such child is Bret, a friendly, smart, fun-loving 14-year-old who lives in Brainerd and is in the ninth grade. His favorite subjects in school are science and engineering. Bret enjoys playing soccer, spectator sports, bike riding, bowling, fishing, hunting and model building. Bret would love to have the opportunity to go snowmobiling. His mother describes him as caring, smart and funny.
Bret would like to have a partner to talk with who would be a male role model, and it would be especially nice if his adult partner could teach him about engineering. His father is gone the majority of the time due to his work and Bret's mom believes it is important for him to have an adult male role model to bond with and with whom he can do "guy things."
