The Industrial Arts Class at Washington Junior High School in Brainerd was called "Fiberglass and Bow Making," and 18 ninth-grade students signed up for it. The result after one quarter's work: Three canoes, three kayaks and six archery bows.

A painting of Miss Mary Tornstrom was presented to the school as a memorial of last year's senior class. Miss Tornstrom taught in the Brainerd school system for more than 40 years before retiring.
