Brainerd High School graduate Tim Kidder and the 1995 Earlham College men's cross country team were inducted into the school's hall of fame in Richmond, Ind., last weekend.
The 1995 has the distinction of being Earlham's only outright North Coast Athletic Conference champion. The team was 52-5 overall, 15-0 in the NCAC. The Quakers were fifth of 24 teams in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Great Lakes Regional.
Staples' Honek All-MIAC
MOORHEAD - Concordia College senior Michelle Honek of Staples has been named to the All-MIAC volleyball team.
She was also the Cobbers' representative on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.
In 2007, Honek led the Cobbers in kills and was sixth in the MIAC in kills in overall matches during the regular season. She finished the regular season with a career-high 345 kills and had 951 career kills following Thursday's loss to the College of St. Benedict in the MIAC semifinals.
In 11 conference matches this season, Honek had 134 kills and posted double-digit kill totals in eight matches. She had a season-high 20 kills against St. Mary's on Sept. 29.
During the season Honek set the school record for career digs. She had 391 digs in the season and 1,259 for her career. She also had 174 digs during MIAC competition and had at least 10 digs in all 11 matches.
On Tuesday, Honek was named MIAC Co-Hitter of the Week.
CLC to host elementary girls' basketball night
The Central Lakes College women's basketball team invites area girls in grades 3-6 to the Lady Raiders Basketball Elementary Night on Nov. 14 at the CLC gym.
The Raider women will play North Dakota State College of Science at 7 p.m. Nov. 14. Elementary girls and one parent will receive free admission to the game. Each student will receive one free sports drink and popcorn.
The first 40 students will receive a free basketball, donated by Consolidated Telephone Co.
Following the game there will be an autograph session with the CLC women's basketball team.
Parents are asked to call CLC coach Brad Amundson (855-8206, leave a voice mail) if they plan on bringing their daughter to the game.
