We have been in contact this year with Kids Against Hunger and organization dedicated to providing food for starving children anywhere in the world. This organization has been around for 20 years, and was founded by Richard Proudfit of New Hope, Minn. Mr. Proudfit sold his business to start this organization about 20 years ago and still pays most of the administration costs. Through experimenting his organization developed a simple meal consisting of rice, soy protein, dried vegetables, vitamins and minerals; which is cooked with water for 20 minutes. The dried ingredients are easily packaged for shipment anywhere in the world. Our government has provided some free transportation through the Air Force and Navy. Volunteers meet regularly to help with packaging and shipping. The Brainerd Dispatch has run a story about a group doing a packaging session using volunteers from this area. The concern here is not just about hungry children, its about children starving to death!
In our conversation with Dale Telle of Kids Against Hunger, he informed us that there is a need for a satellite group in this area of the State. Currently there are about 30 satellite groups in our State, Iowa, Illinois, and Nebraska. In their brochure they ask us to consider helping by donating, volunteering, starting a satellite, or fundraising. It seems that a satellite effort would be the most help in getting food to starving children. We would appreciate a call from anyone interested getting involved in any way, our number is 218-829-4652, or on line firstname.lastname@example.org. To contact the founding organization call: 763-257-0202, or on line, email@example.com.
