Source Interlink closing distribution center here
Source Interlink's Brainerd distribution center, with about 40 employees in Brainerd, is closing Feb. 1.
Janet Chaffee, human resources manager, said the decision was based purely on economics and the closing is a consolidation. She said the change has nothing to do with the employees, saying, "We have great employees. It's tough for everyone here. We're more of a family."
Source Interlink puts magazines, DVDs, CDs and books, in the hands of retailers across the country. The business, with headquarters in Bonita Springs, Fla., is on Wright Street in the Brainerd Industrial Park near the Brainerd National Guard armory.

While the names have changed over the years, the distribution business has been here in one form or another for decades. The company sign and trucks still carry the name of its previous association as the Chas. Levy Circulating Co., a principal magazine wholesaler in the country. Source Interlink purchased Chas. Levy in 2005. Chas Levy began in 1883 distributing newspapers in Chicago.
