Harold S. Longanecker

BAXTER - Harold Stanley Longanecker, age 94, resident of Baxter, passed away Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at his home. Harold was born on Feb. 9, 1911, in Stewartville, Minn., to Albert and Emma (Kath) Longanecker. He married Eunice Potter on May 31, 1938, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Parsonage in Brainerd.

Harold worked for Northern Pacific and Burlington Northern Railroads for 34 years retiring in 1974. He enjoyed working on his tractors and going to auctions for his next great "find." He also enjoyed playing cards, fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 67 years, Eunice; and six sons, Donald, of Seattle, Gary, of Sedro Woolley, Wash., Gordon (Connie), of Bellingham, Wash., Mike (Kathy), of Klamath Falls, Ore., Tom (Eunice), of Fort Worth, Texas, Scott, of Baxter, Minn.; grandchildren, Jeff Longanecker, Jill Lafeber, Chris Longanecker, Shari Kaye Dailey, Michele Carney, Brian Longanecker and Trisha and Kori Longanecker; 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Herbert, Everett and Roy; and sister, Lila.

Services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastors Ivy Borgstrom and Mark Skinner officiating. Burial will be in Baxter City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd and the hour before services at the church on Friday. Memorials are preferred to donor's choice.
