LITTLE FALLS -- Verl Marie Rydberg, 87, Little Falls, formerly of Roseville and Cushing, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls.
She was born Oct. 19, 1914, in Freedhem to Ernest and Mary (Nelson) James. She attended country school in the Freedhem area and graduated from Little Falls High School. After graduation she moved to Minneapolis and worked as a housekeeper. She married Albert H. Rydberg on April 11, 1935, in St. Paul. They lived in Roseville and she worked for the state of Minnesota as a tax officer. Following their retirement in 1985 they moved to Cushing and lived on Albert's boyhood farm. In 1996 she moved to St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Rydberg, Elk River; two daughters, Joan Arndt, Hutchinson, and Joyce Quam, Colleyville, Texas; a brother, Stanley James, Princeton; three sisters, Minnie Helmerick, Pillager, Julia Swant, Minneapolis, and Alma Fellman, Big Lake; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Her husband; a daughter, Janet Rydberg; two brothers; and two sisters died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cushing with the Rev. Kathryn A. Ingbritsen officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Cushing.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls.
