How will Gov. Ventura's "Big Plan" affect Brainerd?
At the beginning of his administration, Gov. Ventura issued what he called "The Big Plan," which outlined initiatives for strengthening Minnesota's communities and creating an environment of prosperity, both economically and culturally.
Among the initiatives outlined in the plan is a call to improve the competitive position of rural Minnesota and assist in helping to increase the economic diversity of rural communities. The task of implementing this initiative, along with others, has been given to the Minnesota Department of Trade and Economic Development.
On Thursday, Rebecca Yanisch, commissioner of the Department of Trade and Economic Development, will speak at the Brainerd Lakes Area Development Corp.'s annual meeting. Yanisch will talk about the governor's plan and what it will mean for future economic development efforts in the Brainerd lakes area.
Reservations are required and can be made by contacting BLADC's office at 828-0096. The meeting will be 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. at the Ramada Inn in Brainerd. Cost is $10.
