VERNDALE - Amos Schmidt continued his torrid postseason rushing pace, carrying 21 times for 294 yards and five touchdowns, to lead top-seeded Verndale past No. 4 Isle 46-16 Saturday in the Section 4 Nine-Man semifinals.
The Pirates, ranked third in the state, compiled 456 rushing yards on 58 carries.
Schmidt scored on runs of 78, 75, 55, 31 and 10 yards. Zack Meidinger added Verndale's other score with a 5-yard carry in the third quarter.
