Howard Robert Harms, age 78, died on Oct. 31, 2007, at his home. He was born on Sept. 2, 1929, in Iron Hub to Edwin and Anna (Beneke) Harms. He married Elsie Pauline Stinson on Sept. 8, 1956, in Deerwood. He spent all but four years of his life living in Iron Hub. He farmed, worked in the mines, was employed with Scorpion Inc., and retired from Graphic Packing in 1997. Howard held office for Rabbit Lake Township as treasurer for 38 years. He was a member and longtime elder of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iron Hub.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie; one son, Scott (Carmen) Harms, of Forreston; three daughters, Sandra (David) Larson, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Heidi (Jason) Price, of Aitkin, Penny (Alan Monroe) Harms, of Aitkin; four grandsons, Jeffrey Harms, Kyle Larson, Austin and Nathan Price; two brothers, LeRoy (Barb) Harms, of Iron Hub, David (Ardyce) Harms, of Shafer; a sister, Irene (Charlie) Enlund, of Arizona. He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Dorothy Harms; a sister, Ethel Abear; and a brother, Floyd Harms.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iron Hub. Burial will be at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby and from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday one hour prior to services at the church.
