CROSSLAKE - A 20-year-old Emily man was accidentally shot in the leg Wednesday night by his brother, the Crosslake Police Department reported.

The shooting took place at about 10:30 p.m. at a residence on the 30,000 block of Crow Wing County Highway 3 in Crosslake.

The victim, Mark Carlton, was shot in the calf with a muzzleloader. He was transported to the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby and then transferred to Hennepin County Medical Center, where Thursday he was reported in satisfactory condition.

Crosslake Police Chief Robert Hartman said the shooting resulted from an accidental discharge of the muzzleloader. Several people at the residence witnessed the shooting, according to a police report.

Crow Wing County Attorney Don Ryan said his office received a file on the incident for review but had no other comment Thursday.
