The Garrison Seniors Group meeting will begin at noon Tuesday at the Garrison City Office building. Members are asked to bring a potluck food item to share and their own plates, cups, and silverware.
Flu shots will be given before the meeting, beginning at 10 a.m. so bring along your Medicare and supplement cards.
Our program "Rafts" will be presented by Bob Swanson and Kurt Prebloe about the types of rafts built by their company, including those used on cruise ships and airplanes.
November recycling will be 1-4 p.m. Monday. The only items which can be accepted are aluminum beverage cans, other flattened metal cans, plastics with a 1 or a 2, flattened plastic milk containers, newspapers and brown, green and clear glass containers. Among the items which can't be accepted are plastic grocery bags, and plastic oil containers which have a 2.
Lakes and Woods Horticultural club
The Lakes and Woods Horticultural Club meets at 7 p.m. Monday at the Mille Lacs Electric Cooperative meeting room. "Chemicals in the Home and Garden" is the evening's topic. It will be presented by Jean Prickett. Roll call question will be "Name a Toxic Chemical in your Home." Hostesses are Bernice Schley and Sue Stebbins.

Veterans pheasant dinner
The hospitalized veterans were treated to a pheasant dinner at 17 locations throughout Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. The area dinner, sponsored by American Legion Post No. 255 and VFW Post No. 1647 was served at Brainerd Regional Human Services Center. William J. Wroolie Jr., National Commander of the Purple Heart, was guest speaker. Other Legionnaires taking part included First Vice Commander DeWayne Collins, Post Adjutant Gaylord Zelinske, VFW Commander Paul Laughton and Chaplin Roy Schellin, District Commander Linda Aerey, C/C Cmdr. Larry Higgins, DAV Cmdr. Don Skillings, and American Legion Auxiliary president Judy Harting, 6th District Aux. president Karen Foss, SAL Cmdr. Robert Foss and Crow Wing County Asst. Veterans Service Officer Dave Felkey.
The veterans were presented with t-shirts, a toiletry kit and flashlight. The food was prepared by Jerry and Becky Young, and served by members of Auxiliary Unit No. 255. Past president Jay Beebe was chairman of this pheasant dinner program.

Holly Days Christmas bazaar
The Crosby-Ironton Presbyterian Church will have their annual Holly Days Christmas bazaar from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be handcrafted items, homemade baked goods available and Granny's Attic. Rolls and coffee will be served.
Brainerd Garden Club
A wreath making class will be taught by Burt Knandel at the Brainerd Club meeting at 1 p.m. Friday at the Paul Bunyan Nature Learning Center. Kay LaFrance and Roberta Doucette will be hostesses. The Brainerd Auxiliary to the Shrine Hospital for Children will meet at noon Monday at the Masonic Hall in Brainerd. The Brainerd American Legion will be having the 73rd annual duck feed with all the trimmings with social hour at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. RSVP is required. Parking will be available in the lot next door. Cost: $7.
