Oscar "Rock" Wendell Spencer, 80, Lake Tapawingo, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital.
He was born Dec. 10, 1920, in Appleton to Oscar and Nellie Spencer. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II. He was a Shriner, a member of Scottish Rite in Chicago, the Masonic Lodge in Osceola, Iowa, the American Legion in Brainerd and the Lake Tapawingo Sportsmans Club.
Survivors include a sister, Betty Rush, Lake Tapawingo, Mo., and a brother, Charles Spencer, Brainerd.
His wife, Lucille, died in 1989; a son, Stephen, died in 1983; and a sister, Edith Anderson, died earlier.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home Chapel in Brainerd with the Rev. Glenn Derby officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 255. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
