I volunteer because: "Life has been good to me. However, in the past when I needed help others were good to me and when I help someone now it reminds me of those times.
My most rewarding volunteer experience is or has been: "I love helping first graders learn to read. When they fail to comprehend the skills and I'm able to help them, it's so rewarding to see the look on their faces when the light bulb goes on."
Nominated by: Susan Rogers, Brainerd School District Volunteer Program. "Since her retirement four years ago, Brenda has made it her passion to help kids with reading, math, spelling, or whatever the need may be. Brenda spends many hours at Baxter School enjoying and sharing her time there. She helps me big time with the District Spelling Bees. She has been the pronouncer/judge for the past couple of years. Brenda has been a great asset to the Brainerd School District Volunteer Program. She volunteers for many other organizations in our community. Brenda is most deserving of this recognition. Thanks Brenda!"
