Dorothy E. Bastyr, 94, of Brainerd, and formerly of Nisswa, Minn., died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village, Brainerd, Minn.
She was born Oct. 8, 1909, in Balaton (Rock Lake Township), Minn., the daughter of Charles and Anna Matea (Olson) Breening. Dorothy attended schools in Balaton and Minneapolis, Minn., and on June 2, 1932, she married Charles John Bastyr (deceased) in Lake Benton, Minn. They were married 58 years and lived in Casper, Wyo., Rapid City, S.D., Tracy, Minn., Minneapolis, Minn., Nisswa, Minn., and Brainerd, Minn.
Dorothy was a talented seamstress, dedicated housewife and loving mother.
She is survived by son John (Elizabeth) Bastyr of Baxter, Minn.; her son, Richard (Susan) Bastyr of LaCrosse, Wis.; granddaughter Anne (David) Swenson of Robbinsdale, Minn.; grandson Christopher (Tonia) Bastyr of Ham Lake, Minn.; grandson Derek Bastyr of LaCrosse, Wis.; granddaughter Denise Bastyr of Charleston, S.C.; three great-grandchildren; sister Irene Booth of Minneapolis (formerly of Marshall, Minn.); nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and eight sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village's chapel, Brainerd, Minn. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Brainerd, Minn.
