Bogwalk construction canceled for Monday

Posted: Saturday, October 31, 2009

WADENA - Plans to gather volunteers to construct a 750-foot long educational bogwalk in the Old Wadena County Park on the Crow Wing River Monday have been canceled.

Heavy rains during the last few days have caused the water to come up ankle deep in the bog, making it difficult to install the dock sections this fall, said Old Wadena Society President Tom Kajer.

Old Wadena Park is about five miles northwest of Staples.

Two area legislators are encouraging area residents to vote in support of the Farm on St. Mathias at the www.helpgrowyoursoup.com Web site.

The farm, owned by Bob and Arlene Jones, is one of 10 finalists in the Campbell's Help Grow Your Soup Contest.

Rep. John Ward, DFL-Brainerd, and Rep. Al Doty, DFL-Royalton, said the top five vote-getters will have their barns rehabilitated and donations will be made to the St. Mathias area FFA chapters.
