I know this is an old topic but I thought it should be revived for a bit. I really think that Minnesota did a good thing by putting the Freedom to Breathe Act into effect. I know that a lot of smokers complain about it, but I don't think they realize what they are doing. Why should I, a non-smoker, be subjected to other people smoking? It affects my health and the health of my daughter who is three years old and has asthma. If people want to smoke, more power to them but please don't do it around me and my family. I think that Minnesota, among other states, is doing a good job at trying to keep their citizens health in mind when they passed this act and ones like it. I know it is a pain for some people. In the long run, however, if you think about it, it really is the best thing for all people. If people cannot smoke in a restaurant maybe they will just find it too much of a hassle to go outside to smoke and skip that cigarette to spend a little more time with their families. No matter what some people say, smoking and second hand smoke does cause health problems. Bravo to pass this act. It will hopefully make our state a healthier one.
