WALKER -- Cass County Auditor-Treasurer Sharon K. Anderson reminds voters that absentee ballots are available through Monday.
Applications are available from the auditor-treasurer's office. A letter of request may also be submitted in lieu of the application, and must contain the signatures of all persons in the household requesting an absentee ballot. Persons may apply through the mail at P.O. Box 3000, Walker, MN, 56484; by fax at (218) 547-7278, or apply and vote in person at the auditor's office in the Walker courthouse.
Voters in the cities of Lake Shore, East Gull Lake and Pillager may apply for an absentee ballot by contacting the city clerk of those respective cities, or the auditor-treasurer for an absentee ballot.
Absentee ballots require a witness. A witness may be any registered voter of Minnesota, a notary public, or other individual authorized to administer oaths.
The auditor-treasurer's office, and the city clerk's office of Pillager, East Gull Lake and Lake Shore will have extended hours for absentee voting on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Monday until 5 p.m.
Absentee voters in May, Sylvan and Fairview townships may cast their ballot on Saturday during the hours noted by going to the Pillager city clerk's office, or by contacting the auditor-treasurer's office.
Deer hunters are particularly reminded this year to cast their absentee ballot where they live before leaving on their hunting trip if they will be absent from their precinct on Nov. 7.
All new residents are also reminded that they may register to vote at their polling place on Nov. 7 by furnishing proof of residence.
Those voters in mail ballot precincts not pre-registered may vote by absentee ballot in advance, or at the auditor-treasurer's office on election day, as there will be no other polling place within the mail ballot precinct.
