The first steps toward installing a fluoridation system for the city's water supply were taken last night at the Brainerd Water and Light Board meeting. The superintendent was authorized to seek quotations for starting the system and purchasing chemicals.

Fire destroyed the two-story registration and recreation building at Gull Lake Resort last night. George Gmeinder, resort owner, said the building was 80 years-old and was originally a farm house, and later was known as the Gull Lake Hotel.

Strong opposition was presented at special meeting of the city council called to reconsider its action in granting a license to Clarence Peterson to construct a filling station at 15th and Oak Streets. A petition signed by 72 residents called to rescind.

Police Chief Quinn says that he will have special plain clothes men on duty in every ward in the city Saturday night and Sunday night to prevent Halloween pranks, and that the laws will be strictly enforced.
