Year: Senior.
Age: 17.
Art focus: Brainerd Chamber Orchestra.
Adviser nomination: Holte is the principal cellist in the Chamber Orchestra, a three-year member of the Central Lakes Conference Honors Orchestra and a member of the mid-level honor orchestra. Holte has taught in the Brainerd Community Education's Learn to Play program for two years and he performs in a string trio.
What do you enjoy about teaching orchestra? "You get to relay your experience to other kids and it's also personal growth for both the student and myself. It's a learning experience and it's enjoyable to teach kids."

Why did you join orchestra? "My sister was in it and I liked it. I like orchestra more than band because I like the music better. I'm not saying band is bad, I just like orchestra. I decided to play the cello because my sister played the violin and I didn't want to play the viola or the bass, so the cello is right in-between and it has a good range and it sounds pretty."
Most memorable fine arts achievement: Taking part in the American String Teacher Association National Orchestra competition for two years in Kansas City, Mo., and Detroit.
Art activities: Chamber Orchestra, A Cappella Choir and Windfall.
Artist most admired: Composer John Williams.
Favorite movie: "Lawrence of Arabia."
Favorite TV program: "Attack of the Show."
Last CD you purchased: "Final Fantasy VI: Grand Finale" by Nobuo Uematsu.
Favorite video game: "Dragon Quest."
Something most people don't know about you: "I do power conditioning."
Favorite food: Pasta Milano from Macaroni Grill.

Brian Ashburn, junior, debate: The debate adviser said, "The Brainerd Debate Team recently participated in a tournament and returned with both speaker awards and trophies for their efforts. Brian Ashburn received the top speaker award in the varsity division of Lincoln Douglas Debate and was the only debater in his division to go undefeated with a 5-0 record to earn the first place trophy."
