Mary Hatfield Sanford, 94, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd.
She was born in Browerville, Minn., to Peter and Francis (Buhl) Motzko on Aug. 7, 1910. She was a welder in Everett, Wash., and a pie maker at Freedom Cafe in the 1950s. She owned Hatfield Concrete Products where they made cement blocks. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, collecting rocks and seashells. She spent her winters in warmer places such as Arizona or Florida and spent her summers in Minnesota. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Brainerd.
She is survived by her brothers, Stephen Motzko, of Staples, and Louis Motzko, of Staples.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Tony, Vincent, John, Raymond and Edward, and her husband, Jack Sanford.
Services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. at the Bethany Good Samaritan Village Chapel in Brainerd. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
