PILLAGER -- George W. Gedde, 85, Pillager, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at St. Cloud VA Medical Center.
He was born June 15, 1917, in Wadena to George and Anna (Christensen) Gedde. He married Shirley Borchers on April 9, 1943, in Gresham, Ore. He owned and operated Gedde's Gambles Hardware Store in Pillager from 1950-1974. He worked as a real estate broker in Arizona for 20 years. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Pillager and served on the church council. He was a Pillager volunteer fireman and the village of Pillager clerk. He was a member of the Pillager American Legion and the Pillager Commercial Club.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Garry Gedde, Owatonna, and David Gedde, Gonvick; two daughters, Joyce Gedde, Show Low, Ariz., and Jean Larson, Baudette; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Alfred Gedde, Fergus Falls, Harold Gedde, Wadena, and Ray Gedde, Pillager; and three sisters, Esther Snyder, Wadena, Agnes Braumbough, Beaverton, Ore., and Gladys Berg, Pelican Rapids.
Five brothers and two sisters died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Pillager with Pastor Kathryn Ingbritsen officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery in Pillager with graveside military rites will be by American Legion Post No. 255.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd and an hour before services Thursday at the church.
