Conservation district office to be closed Tuesday

The Crow Wing County Soil and Water Conservation District office at 7118 Clearwater Road in Baxter will be closed Tuesday and have limited staff available in the office Wednesday as staff will be attending training session.

The district recommends those needing staff assistance schedule it for a different day.

Coats for Kids giveaway

Kinship Partners is gearing up for the annual Coats for Kids giveaway. For those in need Coats for Kids will be distributed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the Westgate Mall in the former Book World location. Children must be present and accompanied by a parent, guardian or adult Kinship partner. One coat per child will be given. For questions call Kinship Partners at 829-4606.

Blood donation opportunities listed

For those interested in donating blood, several area drives are planned.

Blood drives are set from noon to 6 p.m. Nov. 16 and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 17 at St. Ann's Parish in Wadena; and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Aitkin High School.

Defensive driver refresher planned

A defensive driver refresher course will be 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 6 at Brainerd Insurance. Cost is $15 per person. Instructor is State Patrol Sgt. Curt Mowers.
