Dennis Taute and Lawson Starr of Central Lakes College have been named the Southern Division MCAC offensive and defensive players of the week ending Oct. 24.
Taute, a sophomore from Foreston, rushed for 145 yards on 22 carries and scored two touchdowns and a 2-point conversion in a 20-6 win over Ridgewater. He leads the division in rushing with 180 attempts for 659 yards (3.7) and six TDs and is fourth in scoring.
Starr, a sophomore from Maple Grove, intercepted two passes, recovered a fumble, had two pass breakups and six tackles against Ridgewater. He's tied with teammate Dusty Parker for first in the division with six interceptions.

CLC, which finished the regular season 8-1, plays Vermilion (6-3) at Ely at 1 p.m. Saturday in the semifinals of the MCAC state tournament. Mesabi Range (5-4) plays at Rochester (9-0) in Saturday's other semifinal.
