Warriors to host Cambridge-Isanti

The second-seeded Brainerd Warriors will host No. 3 Cambridge-Isanti at 2 p.m. Saturday in the semifinals of the Section 8-5A playoffs.

C-I beat No. 6 Elk River 44-24 in Tuesday's opening round.

No. 5 St. Cloud Tech beat fourth-seeded Moorhead 24-7 in the other opening-round game Tuesday. Tech will play at No. 1 Buffalo at 2 p.m. Saturday in the other semifinal.

Gervais, Dean, Kapsner honored by CLC

Becca Gervais and Jimmy Dean of Brainerd and Lexi Kapsner of Little Falls have named Central Lakes Conference performers of the week ending Oct. 24.

In girls' soccer, Gervais, a junior forward, scored both of Brainerd's goals in the section championship game.

In boys' cross country, Dean, a senior, placed first in the CLC championship meet with a time of 16:58.

In volleyball, Kapsner, a sophomore libero, had 29 digs in two matches.

Broomball registration deadline Nov. 20

The deadline to register for the Brainerd Parks and Recreation Department's adult broomball league is Nov. 20.

A $100 non-refundable deposit is due when registering a team. The total team fee will be determined once all teams are registered.

Games will be played at Brainerd Area Civic Center and Gold Medal Arena on Wednesdays, starting Dec. 2. Two games will be played at 8:45 p.m. and one game at 9:45 p.m.

Teams must provide their own equipment, including league approved broomballs and brooms. Helmets are required; facemasks are recommended.
