20 years ago (1989)

A frantic 8-3 come-from-behind semifinal victory over St. Cloud Tech has earned the Warrior football team a berth in the Section 8AA championship game. Jason Heitkamp's 12-yard TD pass to Eric Loney with 21 seconds remaining made the difference.

30 years ago (1979)

Barry Sorenson and Brad Gorron, a tremendous 1-2 punch for Coach Ron Stolski's Warriors all season, closed out their gridiron careers in spectacular fashion leading the Warriors to a 34-0 conquest of Elk River.

40 years ago (1969)

60 years ago (1949)

Seven-year-old Dennis Nygaard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cal Nygaard, Brainerd, said today it felt fine to talk on a long distance telephone call with cowboy film star Roy Rogers. Dennis, who suffers from cancer, is in a full body cast. Rogers also sent a signed photo.

80 years ago (1929)

A Crow Wing man, charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of liquor, was bound over to district court. He is charged with striking a car near Barrows that contained three duck hunters from St. Paul bound for Winnibigoshish.

100 years ago (1909)

Fire destroyed the Columbian Block and two frame buildings early this morning, having started in the M.K. Swartz Drug Store. The fire broke out at 7 a.m. and by 8 a.m. the building had collapsed. Total losses are expected to exceed $200,000.
