20 years ago (1988)

The final performance of the Brainerd Community College Theater Department's 1988 "Geritol Frolics" will be 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the St. Paul Civic Center. The performance is sponsored by McDonalds' restaurants.

30 years ago (1978)

Brainerd debaters, Anna White, Andrea Cummings, Jeff Hane and Mike Howitz placed second in their division with a 7-1. They were tied for first place but were awarded second place on speaker's points.

40 years ago (1968)

Members of the Brainerd Chamber of Commerce made a special effort to pay tribute to local industries here yesterday. Members of the chamber visited the local industries and then treated operators to a dinner.

60 years ago (1948)

The W.B. Straka home, recently purchased by Arthur S. Benson from the Zion Lutheran Church congregation was moved from 220 North Eighth Street to the site just north of the public library. The new Zion Lutheran Church building will be erected upon the site from which the house was moved.

80 years ago (1928)

Special at Frank's Meat Market. Tonight and Wednesday, 2 pounds, fresh spare ribs and 2 pounds fresh kraut, 40.

100 years ago (1908)

Some of the young people went down to Love's for the basket social for the benefit of the school Christmas tree at that place.
